Give your child their best day with Little Zion Preschool

Pre-K Curriculum

Pre-K Program

Our Pre-K program offers a kindergarten-like setting where children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Daily circle time blends literacy, math, science, and social studies through songs, games, and movement. Individualized learning time expands skills, while weekly crafts and themed projects spark creativity.

Students enjoy exciting play centers, peer interactions, and twice-monthly cooking classes that teach measurement, following recipes, and teamwork, plus the fun of eating their creations!  Activities like “Star of the Week” build confidence, responsibility, and independence. Our program fosters listening skills, empathy, emotional regulation, clear communication, and cooperation, preparing children for success in school and life.

What will it do for my child?
Our Pre-K program helps children transition smoothly to Kindergarten with engaging daily activities. Circle time includes the Pledge of Allegiance, calendar games, songs, and stories to build focus and cooperation. Students explore skills through rotating centers, combining independent tasks and teacher-guided learning—sometimes even small homework assignments! We introduce word walls, sight words, and social skills through “Jesus Time” and play. Children develop fine motor skills with play dough, puzzles, and cutting practice, and strengthen gross motor skills with balance beams, tunnels, jump ropes, and yoga for both fitness and relaxation. Lunch with peers and program options help build stamina for a full Kindergarten Day. Little Zion is a great place to grow, learn, and prepare for success!

The Christian Foundation

At Little Zion, we partner with families to help each child grow in their relationship with God. Children learn that God loves them, forgives them, and cares for them. In the classroom, this looks like: Student-led Jesus Time where children take an active role in sharing faith. Exploring and asking questions about Bible characters and stories. Engaging in 1-week, 2-week, or month-long learning units focused on faith topics. Pastor Time with special visits to deepen understanding and connection. Our goal is to weave faith into everyday learning, guiding children to know and love God.

What is the main focus?

We focus on the kinesthetic development of children as well. Students have the opportunity to use play dough and puzzles to strengthen the fine motor skills necessary for success in writing and cutting. Additionally, the use of a balance beam, tunnels, and jump ropes strengthens gross motor development. We also use Yoga to stretch and strengthen the body but also teach it as method used to relax and calm an active body.
